Archer Alexander (c. 1810–1879) was an enslaved man who became a hero of the Underground Railroad and is widely remembered as the model for the emancipated figure in the Emancipation Memorial (also known as the Freedman's Memorial) in Washington, D.C. His story illustrates both the risks and courage involved in the journey from slavery to freedom, as well as the complex legacy of emancipation in America. Come here Dorris Keeven-Franke bring his story to life.
